{"id":1043,"date":"2020-06-20T06:46:08","date_gmt":"2020-06-20T06:46:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.beyondboundariesnicolelis.net\/wordpress\/?p=1043"},"modified":"2020-06-20T06:46:08","modified_gmt":"2020-06-20T06:46:08","slug":"campaspe-shire-backs-sunset-clause-on-ses-funding-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beyondboundariesnicolelis.net\/wordpress\/2020\/06\/campaspe-shire-backs-sunset-clause-on-ses-funding-bill\/","title":{"rendered":"Campaspe shire backs sunset clause on ses funding bill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Campaspe shire backs sunset clause on ses funding bill<\/p>\n<p>Updated<\/p>\n<p>Queensland has backed a sunset clause on funding bills which will stop the state&#8217;s electricity utilities from g<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jarvees.com\/\" title=\"\ubc14\uce74\ub77c\">\ubc14\uce74\ub77c<\/a>etting new renewable subsidies, in a move that could stop major companies from going back to coal.<\/p>\n<p>Shadow cabinet minister Ian Macdonald has welcomed the decision, but says it was needed to prevent an attempt by Labor to take the deal away from Queenslanders.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The decision has been taken by the Queensland Premier that we&#8217;re going to implement the law as it stands,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>The bill would prevent state utilities from adding renewable energy to their tariffs while they were being paid by the government to deliver them.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Queensland Government and its State Government will no longer use a specific clause in any energy infrastructure package to give preference to certain sources over others,&#8221; Premier An<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jarvees.com\/\" title=\"jarvees.com\">jarvees.com<\/a>nastacia Palaszczuk said.<\/p>\n<p>The law change was expected to be put before cabinet next week, but was delayed after the Premier signed off on the legislation.<\/p>\n<p>Labor&#8217;s energy spokesman Chris Bowen said the Premier has &#8220;stepped over the line&#8221; and the Government needs to take the legislation that was passed and work out the best way to ensure the future.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If there&#8217;s going to be a change in any of those legislation that impacts a lot of energy suppliers, then I don&#8217;t know what the basis is for the change of government,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s not going to be a full explanation as to how you&#8217;re going to be able to deliver what you&#8217;ve made such a commitment to and how that is not necessarily going to happen.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Queensland&#8217;s utilities argue they must get a fair deal in terms of rates and prices, which means if they are no<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jarvees.com\/\" title=\"\ubc14\uce74\ub77c\">\ubc14\uce74\ub77c<\/a>t paid in full, they could be forced to drop a project they have planned or have it abandoned.<\/p>\n<p>Topics: electricity-energy-and-utilities, environment, environment-education, environmental-policy, government-and-politics, state-parliament, qld, canberra-2600, act, adelaide-5000<\/p>\n<p>First posted<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Campaspe shire backs sunset clause on ses funding bill Updated Queensland has backed a sunset clause on funding bills which will stop the state&#8217;s electricity utilities from g\ubc14\uce74\ub77cetting new renewable subsidies, in a move that could stop major companies from going back to coal.
