In 1982, Nike aired its first three nationwide television adverts, created by newly fashioned ad agency Wieden+Kennedy (W+K), in the course of the broadcast of the New York Marathon. The Cannes Advertising Festival has named Nike its Advertiser of the Year in 1994 and 2003, making it the first company to obtain that honor twice. In 2008 a project through the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill found workers were uncovered to poisonous isocyanates and different chemical compounds in footwear factories in Thailand.
